Native Grasses Project Needs Your Support

Native Grasses are valuable forage for wildlife, scenically beautiful, and essential for supporting soils. And, these grasses need help!

Many landowners in the Glade Park area are interested in restoring native plants and wildlife habitat on their properties. However, these grasses are challenging to grow on previously disturbed soils and seeds are often difficult to get and expensive to purchase.

The Land Trust is working with local native plant experts to develop appropriate methods to seed with native grasses that are indigenous to Glade Park. These experts will help landowners enhance their native grasses populations. Part of this project includes developing a native grasses nursery to produce seeds that can be made available for distribution to landowners.

Thank you Bert Nieslanik and Mercedes Cameron, Glade Park landowners, who are donating land, water, and some supplies to host the first phase of this native grasses project.

We need volunteers! If you would like to help with light construction, plot development, and  maintaining the native grasses nursery, call Libby Collins, Project Coordinator at – 970-263-5443.
